Hi all,
Haven't posted in a while, but I got a new E8500 E0 and was very impressed with what my old p5b deluxe rev 1 was capable of with this new cpu. I previously had an E6400 b2 that topped out at 3500mhz with a max fsb of approximately 490. I can go up to 515 on my motherboard with this new cpu. I was under the impression that I needed an E8500 over an E8400 because I thought my board's fsb would be limited to much lower.
Anyway, I am running this E8500 right now at 4.35ghz. It passed both prime (12 hours) and 40 passes of Intel Burn Test with 1.328 vcore under load (according to cpuz.) I didn't take screenshots at 4.35ghz, but I have one of prime running for 5+ hours at 4.3ghz with 1.32 volts and just for fun I booted up at 4818mhz and completed a pi run. At 4.35ghz on my e8500 compared to 3.5ghz on my e6400, the fps I get in L4D and especially CSS (I often play death matches and in 32 person servers, where my e6400 sometimes struggled to get 60fps at 1680x1050 with everything maxed) is far superior. I was hoping source games would improve and they have drastically.
So basically, if anyone's got this old motherboard lying around and was wondering if it could oc the new dual cores to ridiculous levels, the answer is yes!
By the way, this is all on a Thermalright Ultra 120 (non-extreme)
