The Log Seems to Jump From 0 to 22% Then after 74% goes all wierd
After A Restart it junked this unit and got a new one
more points lost???

Any Ideas Please

Sean

if you don't mind losing whatever it was doing, I would shut down the core but quiting the graphical client, or by stoping the FAH service in services.msc if you ware using wedo's one click. Then delete the core. and start it back up again.

The fact that assembly optimizations are turned off and the checksums don't match indicates improper shutdown of the core prior to the bit of log you sent. That probably scrambled something. You can turn off the client and delete the core without losing the current WU. The client will automatically download a new core. The question is what happened to cause thew improper shutdown. Power failure, overheating, impending HD failure, too high a overclock all could cause this to occurr.

The jump from 0 to 22% is normal for a QMD WU. Optimizations are off because you don't have SSE2. Maybe your ram speed and timings are too aggressive.

But it's not a QMD it's a DGromac ([12:23:05] Protein: p972_fklig_dock_M24).

I think Sean clipped the log here since 11+ hours go by and the time is missing before what should say writing:
[12:23:13] Completed 0 out of 2000000 steps (0)
iting local files
[23:31:41] Completed 440000 out of 2000000 steps (22)

I've had a few clients (all Win98 FAH version 4) write garbage in the log while still folding fine. I don't know what caused it. I'm not sure Stanford knows what causes it. I reread Sean's post and he didn't clip the log, so it just stopped.

Here's Bruce's (Stanford) comment on the log stopping and garbage in the log:

"This has been reported by many of us with Win9x. In most cases, even though the log fails to update, the WU probably continues to progress. Also, the file allocation continues to grow, so some part of the OS thinks the file is still being written. After a reboot you'll probably find garbage (non-text data) in the file.

Nobody has ever been able to figure out why this happens or what to do about it."

thanks

should have stated this rig is stock dell p3 800mhz m/b everything locked
ram timings by spd
windows me

the improper shutdown i've since discovered was my wife (very improper wanted to plug in the hoover noooooo!)

thanks again
