I'm currently using 2X4 GB of 1.6V G.Skill Sniper Series 2133MHz RAM on my Phenom IIX4 965 890FX system. I bought them because I got a really good deal on them about 2 years ago, but I'm only running them at 1600MHz.
I'm upgrading to an Asus Sabertooth X79 with an i7 3930K. I was going to reuse my drives and RAM, and probably buy another set for quad channel, but the RAM doesn't seem to be recommended for use with LGA 2011 systems.
Will the RAM work okay, and should I add another set of 2X4? Or, should I start looking for a new quad channel set of RAM?
