I am planning on saving up some money for a new video card and I was wondering if I should just save up for the cheaper 7600GT or just go for 7900GT.

How well will a 7600gt run everything out right now?
How will 2 7600gts compare to one 7900gt?

7600GT is slighty faster then a 6800GT. the 7900gt is slighty faster then a 7800gtx.
IMO just save up for a 7900GT.

I would save up for the 7900GT and overclock the card. If at some point in the future you are not getting as much speed out of the card as you want you could always v-mod the core and up the clocks even more. I have a 1.4 v-modded 7900GT (650/898) and I play COD2, F.E.A.R., and Oblivion @ 1680x1050 all with decent frame rates.

I have the 7600GT, and runs everything pretty well maxed out at 1024x768 and 1280x1024 resolutions. The 7900GT can game at even higher resolutions with hardly any slowdowns at all.

It really depends on your monitor and if you can game nicely at high resolutions with AA+AF on. There's no point in spending so much money now on one when you're stuck with a 1280x1024 LCD monitor. Now, if you got a nice CRT monitor or a LCD with good resolutions, then the 7900GT is a good bet.
