There is a little clip sealing the motor. I need to open it, but as I did with previous AP-15 I have, the clip is easy to bend and I end up with a silent motor (after lubrication) but an annoying noise of the clip rubbing the metal.

I just ordered 6 AP-29 and after the PWM mod, one of them makes a really annoying noise...

Do you guys know any tool to open these fan properly? I bought something used for these kind of clip but much bigger...

The tool is a snap ring pliers 3/8-2'' // 10-50mm

I guess the gentle typhoon clip is around 1-2mm

Yup, they're also known as e-clips. I've used them in robotics to prevent shafts from sliding, etc.

AFAIK, the 3/8" - 2" would be the outer diameter of the shaft. I don't have any GTs myself, but from the fans I have seen, those shafts are WAY smaller than 3/8". Maybe the 1/16" range, maybe even smaller.

Found the product document off Nidec's website, nothing there on motor specs.

Yea, it should be around 3mm
Look at the two last posts here:
http://www.overclock.net/t/784532/gentle-typhoon-down-need-snap-ring/10

One of them contradict himself since .118'' * 25.4 (inch to mm conversion) = approx 3mm =/= 4.5mm stated for the first item.

The last one also says the 3mm will fit. I think it would be easier to order a bunch of snap rings instead of finding the right tool to properly remove the rings. I tried to order on the last web-site but they won't distribute to canada :(

I tried to find same dimension but can't seem to find the same one:

Does it have to be the same spec or just need 3mm diameter?
