GTX 950 FTW vs GeForce GTX 1050 (maxwell vs pascal)???

was going to get the 950 today and just found a deal on the 1050 that is a few dollars more. it is not the Ti or sc, only ordinary 2gb single fan model. the thing i have read about is the pascal architecture.

i know the 950 ftw has dual bios and probably don't know if i ever would mess with that, but do like tinkering. don't know anything about the 1050 other than it seems to come with less bells and whistles p.p

now i am stumped, is the pascal really that much better that i should get the 1050?

The 1050 is overall a little faster and uses less power. I don't know what 'bells and whistles' are for a GPU... I mean it puts an image on the screen.

If it were me, I would go 1050 as it is a bit faster and does use less power.

I second Earth dogs suggestion of going for the 1050. Do note the 1050 lacks VGA and analog outputs. Aside form being a few dollars cheaper the 950 has no other benefits I can think of.

found and ordered the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti FTW 4GB for $149.99 shipped, $7 more than the EVGA GeForce GTX 950 FTW 2GB shipped from EVGA.

from what i see online it is as close to black friday deal i will get knowing my luck. thank you for those links, was looking for comparisons between the gtx 950 ftw and the plain jane 1050. after looking through those and hitting a few other links i found evga's official ebay store. been looking there a week and never saw their store there. just hope there is nothing wrong with it but it does say new and nothing about refurbished.

yes i most likely would have just ordered that instead of asking anything here but never saw it till today.

going from gt640 to gtx1050ti is, WOW!
