Very good Magron. But if I can be honest, "proper" cleaning isn't all that's it's cracked up to be.

Consider this for a minute. The purpose of Tim is to fill the micro imperfections on the chip and cooler. Wiping alone without a cleaner leaves residuals tim in those micro cracks. What's most important is proper application and mounting pressure.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you shouldn't clean. I'm just suggesting your improved temps are most likely because of proper application and mounting. Glad it's all good now.
 
Don't forget, in THIS case I had an older version of the TIM to remove. For virgin surfaces I can see where the cleaning isn't all that important.
