A rather simple question and i need help. I just aquired the remainig amount i need $300.00 so what i need to know, cuz military dosent pay that much and will be a while before i can get another upgrade, whats the best bang for my $$$? A r9-280x w/ 3bg vram and 3 free games, or a gtx 770 w/ 2gb vram and 3 free games (much better games). Which one is going to last me the longest, best overall preformance, i will love? I also plan to get COD:Ghosts and Assin Creed but if i get it for free even better. I game on a 1920x1080p 23in LG monitor my set up is:

i5-2500k @ 4.5
p8z77-v-lx
750w Ultra PSU

im switching from a 7850 1gb to something else and need something to last me a while. SO please help me

r9-280x :argue: gtx 770

Like I said in the other thread....I would go 280x over 770 all costs being the same. Either way though, you cannot go wrong honestly. If Nvidia does not jump on the mantle boat (assuming it is all its cracked up to be of course) then you may be leaving performance on the table in some titles if they choose to use that API.

EVGA does not make AMD cards. As far as brands go, I am sure most will be just fine. You are going to hear horror stories from each company if you leave this thread open long enough. Look what has the best warranty for your needs.

understood that EVGA dosent make amd cards. Thats the company i would get if i do buy a 770

I am with E_D.

If the costs work out the same, I'd go 280x for the sake of having 3 gigs of VRAM vs 2, not to mention mantle support.

Don't get Asus...locked down cards, more expensive. Gpu tweak sucks compared to AB.

(Hi ED :p)

Get either Msi Twin Frozr, or HIS Ice-Q, or Sapphire Dual X, Vapor x or toxic.

most 280x are sold out. And that also there is some bad A** games with the gtx 770. cuz i already wanted Assassin Creed and Splinter cell.

770 has a really nice price currently, it's hard to argue with it. Also, if you want those games go for it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127741

It's a very solid card, and oced it should serve you well. If you fear you might be lacking with 2gb vram vs 3gb you can get a used card or something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127759

The vapor x is ideal, imho...if you use Trixx it has unlocked volts and the cooler is superb.

All 280x cards seem to be back in stock.

personally i would go 770 gtx EVGA they have always done good for me as a card supplier and do great if you ever need to do an rma
