Well it looks like it would work, since thats basically how the cases nowadays are constructed.
 
Bending sheet metal is a huge chore. I instead recommend cutting out some cubes which you could drill and tap for screws.
The cubes could be made out of steel, nylon, brass, or polycabonate. Anything that can hold a thread will do.
 
i am not actully building the case, just making the drawings for one. as long as my drafting teacher thinks it will work, i am fine. i just needed to make sure that it would support itself using that design.
