Hi all!

im currently modding my computer and am in need of some input for a component i want to use for my system.

im planning making my own control system for water cooling. its going to have digital read outs for fan speed, water temp and pump speed, as well as controls for both fans and the pump.

im having trouble locating/putting a name to the control i want to use. i have seen them mostly in car stereos, and how they work is cool in my opinion. first they stay flush to the front bezel, then you push it in, and it pops out and you then can adjust the knob, then you can push it back in and it clicks into place.

i know ive seen them on bass/treble and balance controls for some car radios, but since i have NO idea what they are called i cant seem to find them.

any one know what they are called, or even better have a location to buy them?

Fan controller. Performance PCs has a lot of stuff.

You might want to look at this for total control.

There are tons of options from easy knobs to automomous control, I think one even has a smartphone app.

I use this one on my media center

It's manual control. No need for fan control with enuff raddage, at load temps I don't need to adjust it.

Pump control I have a 35x from Swiftech that uses the PWM from the mobo and it controls it auto. No need for a fan controller connection.
There are a million options for fan/pump control. You can be cheap, like the $14 higher current 3 pin one that served me good for years.

If your looking for major control, don't get this one Jen had a heck of a time.

i guess i need to clarify....

@Conumdrum: Thank you for your input! much appreciated!
@Every one: I guess i need to clarify exactly what im doing here.

what i am doing is actually building a fan controller from scratch. Why you might ask? because of the mod for my desktop.

you see the mod for my computer involves turning my pc on its side, and keeping the cdroms sitting parallel to the desk. to do this i am going to use 2 slim cd drives stacked on top of each other, and since an fan controller i buy would have to be torn down to be built into my housing for my drives i figure i could make my own completely and exactly the way i want it. at some point ill put up pics of what its going to look like. :sly:

at this point im looking for a physical component. the knob end is approx. 1/4 inch in diameter, and when pushed in it clicks and pops out maybe 1/2 an inch, at which point you can turn the knob easily to make your adjustment. after your finished you push the knob back in the 1/2" and it sits flush again.

IF i can find this particular piece then i WONT have to mod the door on the front of my computer that covers my 5.25 bays to accommodate any other kind of knob.

now does my request make more sense?

PS @Conumdrum. BTW i did like the last link you posted. if i cant find the knobs im looking for i MIGHT go with that and dissasemble it for parts. might change the LED color to green for my system theme.
