Well I'm going up upgrade from my E2160 since I think at the time 2.9Ghz for $60 wasn't that bad. But now with the new Wolfdales out I can overclock more for a better gain of my FSB and the cache. However there's a sale here that has the 8200 at $165, I could get that at a base of 2.66 Ghz... or spend around $30 more for the 8400 which is 3.0 Now I'm going to overclock both of these if I choose one, at 3.3 and up and plan to go past the factory clock in the first place. But what I'm trying to say is, other then the model numbers is there any gains to going with the core that is factory defaulted at 3.0 rather then the 2.66? Thanks for your time on reading all that :b

E8200 has 8 multi and E8400 has 9 multi. My E8400 does 4.0ghz with 9 multi but not with 8 multi because motherboard can't handle 500fsb. Find out if you board can handle high fsb if you planning on aiming for high oc.

Well I've got a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Rev 1.0, with the FSB rating at: 1333/1066MHz. But as high as I'd like it to go on my GeminII... so currently my max temp at 2.9 is around 47-55 C in a hot room.

If your motherboard doesn't have problems with 525-550FSB, then the E8200 and E8400 will near-always stop at the same Ghz speed. The P35's are usually capable of doing that sort of speed, but your ram may not be... (You will need memory capable of at least 1000Mhz at 500FSB)

So, if you already have the memory and motherboard hardware, save yourself a few bucks and get the E8200. Knowing what I do now, that's the way I would have gone with my current system.

Ooh alright then, thank you both for your help :3 I'll get the 8200 then~
