help with wireing

does anybody know how to wire up a headset? my logitech headset was shorting out at the little volume/mic control thing and i want to get rid of it and go straight through.

The wires before and after the switch should be the same, So just solder wires of the same color together after removing the insulation. Then use some electrical tape to re-insulate the wires.

that simple. ive never done any work with audio stuff before so i just wanted to make sure.
