Just ran tis on my on my linux box:

tyler@BROMINATOR bin $ mysqladmin -u root -p create phpbb
Enter password:
tyler@BROMINATOR bin $

try without the ='s and without the password

ive tried to do the same thing b4 on my comp... ill give it another shot and see if i can offer some help if i get it working
