How To Lock Drive LEtters

Is there a way to change like drive F to J and make sure everytime on bootup drive F shows up as J rather than always having to do it. thnx

Disk Management in Windows 2K/XP will allow you to change them and they will remain changed after reboot.

seems not to work, maybe because i have a usb hard drive i want to stay as I??/ any suggestions.

I have a USB CD-RW that I occasionally disconnect, and it gets the same letter each time I reconnect it or restart the computer. It should stay the same after a restart.

coudl it be because i have virtual drives thoruhg alcohol??

Yes, possibly.. in Alcohol there's an option to select which letter you want your virtual drive to be. Try selecting a drive letter like "V:" for your virtual drive and see what happens.
