I have a HP mini 1000 that has been in the closet for years now because of a dead hdd. I can get a zif(pata) ssd and have the laptop up and running, I actually need a diganposing and setup laptop for work.

But it wouldn't be normal for me to settle without exploring other options.
I haven't looked personnaly but I have seen others who have opened them and there is an open mpcie slot used for 3g cards normally.

Would it be possible to use a mpcie to M.2 converter like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/171426459379?lpid=82&chn=ps
and install a M.2 ssd like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX1W06984

Would this be possible?

I was looking at pcie 3g cards and they say their interface is usb. This is what leads me to be skeptical if it will work or not as m.2 uses real pcie correct?

My concern on that move would be if the laptop is able to boot off pcie in the first place... I'd contact up on that.
