Update your bios to latest ...... Asrock just rolled out a new one a week ago if you haven't already.
A few settings to change .....
1. Overclock mode to >>> Manual
2. CPU Frequency >>>> Manual
3. Set your frequency
Just like with the FX bump your frequency and check stability. Difference here is you can bump your frequency by 25MHZ now not just 100MHZ
4. CPU Voltage ..... Set your voltage here
NOTE: In voltages there is a duplicate .... not sure why ..... I matched the two.
5. Load XMP settings >>>>> load your settings for ram
6. Voltage Mode >>>> OC Mode
7. DRAM Voltage >>>> Set your Ram Voltage
NOTE: If you have set XMP you might need a small bump here ..... I bumped from 1.35v to 1.375v
8. VDDR_SOC >>>>>> Set your VDDR_SOC voltage here
NOTE: Some more reading .... http://www.overclockers.com/amd-ryzen-overclocking-guide/ ......... Johan explains the volatges nicely http://www.overclock.net/t/1625595/ryzen-oc-how-important-is-soc-volt ............... Another discussion
Work your way up step by step with your OC and test watching your temps ...... Depending on your cooling ...... and voltages you will probably fall in around 3.9GHZ / 4.0GHZ
Thank You. I know it's summer time. But thanks for the quick rundown. I You tubed it, and now I have the basic gist of it. But I do appreciate your time and lesson. (Sorry, just a lil anxious).
Bassnut, I'm a lil confused and concerned why CPUZ and HWMonitor are reporting lower frequency than I did in the Bios. I Bumped it up to 3.85 (and windows and A-Utility see's it,) But not CPUZ and HW. Did I do something wrong?
Check the frequencies while CPU under stress. There are power saving technologies in place (e.g. Cool N Quiet) that throttle down the frequency at idle. Use Prime95 blend or OCCT to stress it.
Well power savings are there to help save power and heat when not needed ...... we can turn them off or we can OC with them in mind.
Im sorry I made two assumptions that you would be OCing with your bios ......
If you are going to use OC software I would advise Ryzen Master for your OC. It's linked in the stickies up top ..... AMD Ryzen tool kit. Im old school and would really recomend you OC from your BIOS though. Also while your in your BIOS you can turn off some of the green stuff if you are worried about it down clocking when you are not running your system hard.
Thank you Bassnut! I did the overclocking in the bios. I just pulled up that picture as a reference. I am use to disabling Cool and Quiet on my other rig.Well no worries then.
