Update:
Pulled the gun on the three GTX 970 fallout editions, just a bit over 620 for all three including taxes.
For the price with the option to resell them for a profit, I figured it was a safe bet.
So I have the option of:
1. selling all three and getting a 980(ti)
2. Selling two and keeping the third
3. Keeping two or three for SLI

And all of the above include hiding them from the wife.

I would say option 2 unless you will be upgrading from 1080P within the next month, in which case, option 1.
