Installing Gentoo "Portage"

If i am using a stage3 install (which i downloaded thru lynx) which link should i follow?

1Installing a Portage Snapshot and Source Code from LiveCD (for networkless installations or GRP installations)
2Installing a Portage Snapshot from a Gentoo Mirror (for GRP installations)
3Configuring the Compile Options (all other installation methods)

im thinking number 2 right?

and how do i know which snapshot i need?

you want the most recent snapshots as they have the info for the newest programs

and will require the least amount of updating

ok well i ended up having to restart everything and now im doing a stage one install, no problems yet, but they will come
