Is it dangerous to overclock from 2.6 Ghz to 3.0 Ghz without a cooler?

Two months ago I bought a PC. The CPU is AMD Athlon II X4 2.60 Ghz. I recently found out about overclocking. But I also read that it's dangerous. I was wondering can I overclock the CPU to 3.0 without an extra cooler. It has the stock cooler on the CPU nothing else.

Full PC configuration:

AMD Athlon II X4 2.60 Ghz
8 GB Ram
500 GB HDD
Asus HD 6670 1gb DDR5
Asus M5A78L-M LX

Probably, although its not recommended. You need to keep an eye on your temperatures. I recommend downloading CPUID's software called HWMonitor. You will also need to download Prime 95 to stress test the system a little bit.

I also highly recommend that you read through Dolk's Guide to overclocking the athlon/phenom series
