putting my brand new 2005FPW next to my laptop makes it blatently obvious that my laptop's LCD is not nearly as bright as it once was, and in fact its whites look pretty darn dull especially next to the 2005FPW.

is there any way to replace the backlight?

the laptop in question is a DELL inspiron 8500

some times, but not offten most of the time you have to replace the whole thing. I would check first that you dont have the settings down, and secondly it could just be related to the generation difference between the two.

I replaced one on my old thinkpad and it was a total pain, it took over 3 hours just to get the old one out. If the backlight in my 9100 burns out I will gladly pay to have it fixed.
