Is my ram dead?

i have 2 ram sticks 4gb each ...yesterday i restarted my computer but when it booted i noticed that it says 8 Gb ( 3.96 Gb usable) ...
i restarted again but it was the same ....i removed one of the sticks it booted normaly....when i tried the other one it didnt boot ....so i figured that this stick is dead...
but i tried the same ram stick in my friends pc and it worked just fine !....what do u think is the problem itried all ram slots but it didnt help !!

Try running memtest86+ with your two sticks of RAM.

Are you using the FC bios or newer?

reset Ram (make sure to push hard but not too hard)
also are using the right slots?
IE 1A and 2A? (or what ever your mobo manual wants)
