Is USB 3.0 fast enough for gaming?

So, I got my nice new machine up and running but have a measly 60GB SSD for the OS. Batman: Arkham City is nearly 20gb alone. So, can I use one of my 3TB 7200rpm usb 3 drives for games?

I had an issue with my 750GB drive and moved it to an external enclosure using USB 2.0 and I haven't seen any performance issues playing Skyrim.

iirc usb 3.0 is still slightly slower than SATA 2 speeds, but it should still be fast enough to game off of. You don't have eSata?

Not on the controller for the external drive, it's straight USB.
