Anyone ever seen a laptop have brightness issues? It's a Lenovo G50-80, and the display is so dark you can almost not see anything on it.
Brightness is turned all the way up (adjusting it seems to make no difference).
Tried reinstalling the driver, no change.

It appears the backlighting is not turning on at all. Not sure if this is going to be hardware or software related.

Tried a fresh install of Windows with all new drivers direct from Lonovo. No change. Works great with external monitor, just no backlighting on the built in screen so you basically can't see anything on it.
Anyone ever replace a laptop screen? How involved is it?

Laptops are put together like a Gordian knot, but if you are careful and watch the seams and make sure all the screws are out.... Its not too bad. You might be able to replace the back light without replacing the screen. On some it is just another detachable part and on some it is built into the panel.

Look for your model on youtube, there's probably a tutorial on there for removing the screen.

100% sounds like the backlight and/or inverter, you'll probably find a replacement screen for $100-200 depending on some factors.
