LiteOn DVD-RW - LDW-401S - RETAIL - $97.00 shipped!

Just noticed today on Newegg that a person can get a decent DVD-RW for under 100 bucks. Not bad considering how many people I know who have spent twice that for drives that are trash in comparison.

Here's Newegg's Lite On list....you'll have to fish through for it.


Any ideas why this is so cheap? I personally have had excellent luck w/ Lite On and have found thier optical drives to be very nice.

It looks like that model writes only to DVD+r/rw.
That format is less compatibale with most home players and some older pc readers.
There is another model there that does - and + for $137.
Which is still a good deal.
If you dont plan on burning VHS to DVD to playback in a household player, or your just backing stuff up it would be fine.
