Your computer is definitely the problem, But it is not your NIC, that is working fine. you should try getting a modern OS, like windows 7. XP slows waaaaay down as you add all the updates. Windows 7 is faster than win XP. Also try switching to another browser, Chrome is pretty fast. Also are you doing integrated graphics? a low end video card may help with videos. If you do decide to keep win XP, then right after you install it, try web browsing, then do all the updates and see just how much it slows down, you will be heading out to get a copy of win 7 or win 8 real fast after that. Sorry guys, win XP was great in it's day but is old and busted now. If you are going to keep the integrated graphics, then try seeing if you can up the amount of shared memory going to graphics in the BIOS settings.
