I posted this in GD, I think, a week or so ago. I'm bringing it here as it "fits" more.

I am going to be doing a little old school. I'm not going to be doing so much case modding as this will be just a general "project log". I may toss in some case mods for the hell of it, provided I can find my dremmel disks.

The grits:

AMD 1700 DUT3C JIUHB
I know, I know. It's not the legendary DLT3C, however it's still pretty decent. It runs at 1.6v at stock speeds. I wonder what'll happen when she's fed 2.1 volts?

In time, I may swap her out for a mobile 2600 fqq4c iqyha or 1700/1800 DLT3C if I can find either for a good price and I kill/get bored with my processor.

Abit nf7-s v2.0 pcb .52
I am going to have some fun with this sucker. Immediately after I test to verify it works I'll get to work. This was bought off of TehGoober.

The northbridge fan is getting replaced with an a64 stock cooler sans the fan. The southbridge probably will also.

I'll be doing the vdd resistor mod as well as the vdimm=vi/o mod and vdd booster. There are known problems with this 3.3v mod but luckily with this pcb revision, I don't have to worry about it. There are also problems with the vtt tracking but the vio mod negates any problems with that ;)

Also, as I mentioned, vcore will have the option of going up to 2.1v.

2x256 Mushkin BH-6
I bought these from Speed Bump. I am told these chips run about 240mhz 2-2-2-5 on an intel platform with 3.2v. Just imagine what will happen when they get (silenced) volts.

Antec True480
I had this laying around since my first computer. I don't know where I put it but I think it's in my garage. I had it for sale for a while for cheap but since I "destoryed" it, nobody has seemed to want it. I cut all of the power lines out, except for the 20/4 pin connectors, and one 4pin molex and sata. I just cut the wires out before and now I'm going to go ahead and unsodder them to make the supply "safer". I'm also going to add an extra two single molex lines, one for the hard drive, one for the cd-rom drive...

Did I mention that I'm going to be modding the powersupply to run 3.6-3.7v on the 3.3v line? Oh.

ATI 9800pro with Ati silencer
I picked this up off of Elif Tymes. Nothing is going to happen to it right away as I want to see what I can get out of my processor first. Eventually, in some time, a couple of weeks, it'll be getting vgpu and vddr mods to make it happy. :)

Case
I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to use for a case. I may get a chieftech dragon clone of of a friend. I surly hope so. If I can't I'm either going to make my own out of an old case and/or wood or just use no case. Maybe I'll pick up the lian li knockoff that's 25 bucks.

The goods:

I will be watercooling the processor to see if I can max her out. If I get the Dragon clone, I'll be picking up a 2-342 and slamming that beast in the front of the case. with a custom made shroud (probably card board until I feel like fiberglassing one if ever). If I cant, I have a 86 chevette core sitting on my floor.

I'll be using a l35 for a pump. The inlet has been modded for 1" ID inlet and will be fed off of a 3/4" ID line that will run straight to the top of the case. (see pic below)

For a block I'll be using a RBX. Right now I only have the standard accelerator plate. If anyone knows where I can get them, besides paying a lot to DD for the whole set, that'd be cool. I only need plate 4 OR 5.

There's nothing special about the block. If I get a chance to get a maze3 and an AC unit I'll be doing some hardcore waterchilling but that probably won't happen. I have a volenti-type "silent bong" cooler sitting in my basement but I don't know whether I will use that.

If I use an internal Rad, the layout will definately resemble this (interchange rad for smaller case)

Assembly
I'll be doing construction step by step and reporting here. I'll probably also write something up for the front page about wire management since I'm a freak about that and I'll have a spare computer/case.

The parts are due in any day so I'll keep everyone posted.

So I got my 9800 last week. One problem: The switch on the VGA silencer had broken off during shipment. It took until last night to find a sutible picture in order to get that sucker back on.

I'm working on a camera, I promise.

I'm probably going to replace it with the ati silencer rev3 as it is copper vs aluminum. I hate aluminum.

Hopefully I'll be getting the mobo and ram tomorrow and can start modding. I still have yet to get a case. I'm working on a third system on the side which hopefully I can give to a friend as a trade for a case.

athlon 1ghz at 110x10ghz air
256mb kingston pc133
Abit KT7-RAID

I've been bad at this, mostly due to the forums being really slow recently.

updates:
1) I got all my parts
2) My mobo turned out to be no good - froze after posting
3) I found out a friend has a 1700 with a stock voltage of 1.5v. He doesn't oc too high (less than 2ghz) and if the stepping is right, we're going to swap.
4) I found a nf7 in a friends basement. He clamed fryed it but all that was broken was one of the usb ports. It was shorting out not letting the computer turn on
5) From the same person I picked up a case. I'm not getting the Dragon case like I wanted to but this will do.

The best one:
Last night I decided to mod the nf7, in it's entireity. I lapped the northbridge. I did the vdd pot mod. I did the vdimm=vi/o2 mod with both wires. Also, vdd booster. The only thing I haven't been able to do is test the board... DOH

You wouldn't believe it but my mom destroyed my ac chiller and had her very stupid, very slow, not a nice guy boyfriend take it away piece by piece, behind my back. I was so upset with him that I threw the other ac unit I had at his pickup leaving some nice scratches.

(edited for pg rating)

You weren't kidding when you said this ram did 240 2-2-2-5. I tried for 245 2-2-2-11 and got a dozen errors in the first couple of minutes. I need to get my real powersupply back, some fans on the ram, and anything but the stock cooler going. I must add that this is a prelim run to see how things are going to turn out. I really want higher than 250, 260+ preferred and I'm going to try anything to get it, even if that means 3.8v to the ram.

I was looking at the 5v vdimm control mod for the nf7 and tried it on a spare board I had but it did nothing but kill it...

I think this might be a good reason to finish that multi-pipe bong I was working on...

I'm going to target to get a camera after I go to the gym.

big update, pics coming.

My internet connection dropped and is back up. Since I'm hosting my own images, that ****s things up. I've resized all pictures to 640x480 for faster loads.

pics work on every computer I'm on at work. I forgot to resize six so the total size dropped from like 5.6mb to <1mb. Make sure you aren't anywhere that blocks port 3097 and you have a popup blocker disabled. (sp2 and google toolbar are known to work fine)

firefox is working properly I see them ,
nice mods , I like the leds by the memory alot
I am not big on lighting , but that does look sweet
I am kinda convinced to mod my lian-li but not sure of what mods to do

no luck... cpu is a dud. It doesn't even post 200x12 1.9v. It posts 200x11.5 but stability is probably a joke. Maybe I'll give 'er max power and see if she does it.

Here's the WC bed. The cheapo 3/4" id tubing from Lowes doesn't seal right so there are two small leaks at the tops of the tees. It's just a tiny bit. Enough that I can test with. The fans are 2x120 Delta afb1212vhes.

So I'm buying Deceptions 2600 iqyha for xmas... this will be nice. Maybe I'll pick up some decent tubing too. And a proper 1/2 to 3/4 adapter... It won't be nearly as ghetto looking, trust me.
