Performance wouldn't be the reason to get Z97 chipset. The ability to drop in Broadwell is. ;)

LOL, I do. I didn't say anything that was not factually correct...I mentioned the 280x has 'a bit more horsepower than a 760'.

Frankly I think you were right about the R9 280X and GTX 760 being at about the same level performance-wise. The 760 is just a bit behind the 280X in performance. A GTX 770 is a good bit ahead of the R9 280X as far as performance though.

Seeing as how a 770 is a 680 (rename) and a 280x is a 7970 GHz Edition (rename) and the 7970/680 traded punches, I will disagree. Here is some testing of apples to apples. Note reference to reference in the first review..you can see it trades blows (leading in some, losing in others) and really, its title dependent on which performs better. Generally it falls a hair short but closer to 770 performance than 760. ;)

I was going by the comparison I saw here.

Can you guys please suggest some good z97s?

BTW,I think I'll be taking the 280x.

AND, I'm gonna wait for the i7 4790k (devil's canyon ,right?)

Will be OCing it to around 5ghz.Therefore i think i'll be taking the CM Nepton 280L (even though it's not that aesthetically pleasing :'( )

This makes me think you're not in a hurry but are stashing some coin so that you can hold off a bit. When are you going to open the wallet? And what is your total budget for all components? I missed it, even after reading the thread.

My initial (for barebones of the pc) budget is 90000 Indian Rupees or 1500USD and the upgrade budget after that is 750 USD or 44000 INR (for the aftermarket cooler, gpu cuz I'll be using the on board graphics for a month or so etc etc etc)

I'll buy the setup around sep i think.

I also changed my mind and will buy a gtx 780.

AND upgraded my psu to a Corsair RM1000.
