Would someone so kindly suggest atleast one bangin mobo I could get, preferably one meant for gaming, my computer case also has lcd temp control so will need as many hook ups as possible if interest I have a Nemesis Elite lcd temp control case, its pretty kool..

i've got a amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 6000+ 3.0ghz (Socket Am2 forgot that, lol pretty important)

You are VERY limited anymore on 939 boards...

If you can either look at upgrading the CPU, RAM and MB then it opens a ton more possibilities up.

775 is going away but you can still pick up some processors new through various sites.

EVGA, XFX and a few others have refurb/outlet model 780/750 MBs occasionally. I just saw a 780i or 750i on one of their sites for around 50 USD shipped.

If you are going to stay 939, then its going to be a challenge at best to find a board unless you raid Ebay etc..

I live by i395 I live outside manassas that **** is prolly ****ed up by the way, between 2 and 7 are chaotic, is that 50 dollar cpu better than my 3.0ghz dual core?

Plenty of options left in the AM2/AM2+ platform area! :)

Here are a couple of boards that will support your processor. The Crosshair is a little over your budget but is an excellent board. The Biostar should do good as well but it's not what you'd call an extreme overclocker since it lacks MOSFET heatsinks, which I'd suggest you add before overclocking much. ;)

Crosshair II $140

BIOSTAR TA790GXBE $95

An Athlon II X2 250 runs at 3.0 GHz stock and should overclock some from there, even with a cheap board. It should exceed your 6000+ performance by 5-15% and most likely will overclock better, though the cheaper board you'd have to buy for it (to stay within budget) would limit that to some extent ...

yeah exactly what i was thinking you can buy a AM2+ board now and in a few months whatever buy a Phenom II or Thuban, they will all run on AM2+ and have a integrated ddr2 memory controller. If only he could still get the Gigabyte 790x-ud4p like my son has that is a solid board for $110-$120 dollars but now sure where and "IF" it is still being sold, but the Gigabyte 790x boards are solid from my experience, assuming he has a video card...I know what the say about assuming too...hahahah

Im sorry, I didnt mean to be rude, but I seriously wouldn't advise someone in his position to spend any more money on that platform.

I thing ANY dollar amount would be better saved for a new system. This is strictly advice, Im not trying to troll you lmao.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

EDIT: I guess if I was going to suggest SOMETHING I would buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128416R
and http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.374211

Or maybe get an Asus board and try to unlock that to a 955 BE? Can the Gigabyte ones do that? Is it just ACC?

That's a little over the $125 budget - almost double in fact. And I wouldn't recommend that heatsink, either. There are others in that price range (even that "combo" price) that will easily out-perform it.

ACC is usually all that's needed to unlock the cores. There were some BIOS's that got changed somehow to stop that practice but most still will - at least with the older BIOS versions ...
