Hi, I'm wanting to upgrade my GPU before a vista upgrade as this one just isn't up to the job.
I want to use this PSU which has 20amps on the 12v rail which is sitting upstairs doing nothing.

I have this tower.

And this monitor which i may upgrade to 22" later in the year

I was looking at the x1900xtx on but it seems that this needs 30A on the 12v rail.
I,ve also seen the 7900gs on newegg selling at a good price, but I'm not sure what are the power requirements for this or even how good it is.

With directX10 and the respective cards coming out soon I would probably be looking to upgrade again in 12 to 18 months.

Thanks for looking, any advise welcomed :) Dan

If you got 500 bucks to spend on a a video card and a psu then i got a suggestion for you. Pick up an 8000gts and an antec neo he550. IMO i wouldnt buy a 7900 or a 1900 at this time. The card is already obsolete . Its worth the extra money for the supreme performance youll get out of an 8800. If you dont have the cash then just hold out till the price goes down. Should be around february

Thanks for the reply.

I dont have that sort of money to spend atm really.
Was thinking more in the region of $200 or £120 for the card and use the PSU i mentioned just for a year till the dirx10 cards are more reasonably priced.

Which one of these looks the best?

Or maybe this?

It seems that at that price range you are looking at either the 7900gs as you mentioned and the x1950pro, the latter costs a bit more on the average but at default clocks it is faster in most situations, from what i've read though the 7900gs is a better overclocker.
