Hey everyone, I've been trolling these forums for a few weeks now, and am finally getting ready to order my next build. I was hoping for some input from some of you that are more experienced with newer tech than I am.
Here's the general info:
What are you planning to do with this compuer? All-purpose design, general gaming (AC3, NFS Shift/Most Wanted, Dishonored, Skyrim, etc), schoolwork, web browsing, and light-moderate audio mixing and mastering through Cubase.
What is your budget? I'd like to stay under $950, though some wiggle room is possible.
Does this include a copy of Windows? I have an enterprise copy through school. No.
Does this include peripheals (a keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, etc.)? I need a wireless keyboard, though I'm not really including that in the $950 of the build.
Are you from the United States or a different country? US, all items will be ordered from the US.
Wherever you may be from, does the store that you are planning to order from have a website? I'm ordering from various sites through Google shopping. It's mostly a mix of Newegg and Microcenter, I'll provide links for some components I've been eyeing.
Do you have any specific requests with the build? I'd like it to be as quiet as possible. It will be in my entertainment center.
Do you plan on overclocking? If yes, do you have a specific goal in mind? I'd like to push my i5-3570k up around 4.5/4.6 Ghz. Nothing earth shattering, as I want this build to last a while.
Would you prefer the build to be particularly small? No
Would you prefer the build to be particularly quiet? Yes, but not at a huge cost of thermal performance.
In general, do you prefer this to be a computer that you can spend money on now and let it rest, or a box built for continuous upgrading? I tend to upgrade as I need it. My current system is 6 years old and has had several revisions.
Do you ever plan on utilizing NVIDIA's SLI or AMD's CrossfireX technologies?
I highly doubt it. I'd rather save that money and use it toward a large, new generation upgrade down the line.
This is an mATX setup, as I'd like to keep the case as small as possible in order to get better airflow for it in my entertainment center.

I figured I'd start with 8GB and see how I fare, and then upgrade to 16 down the line if need be.

I'd LOVE to get the Deep Silence 1 or 2, but I haven't seen it popping up on US soil yet.

Not too picky here. Anything is going to be better than my 6 year old WD Black that's currently running my OS. Just want to stay above 100 GB capacity.
HDD for file storage is being transferred from my old system, to save cost and time.
Video card is a GTX 650 Ti I found on crazy sale.
PSU - Here's where I run into a few questions. I'm wondering if it would be more efficient to use my money for a very good PSU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151119) that just barely gets me to load power requirements, or pick up an OK model (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m1132X509988X726f2539fc0c31ae10ade5829782d109) that leaves me more headroom and could be more efficient under load.
Hit me with your wonderful knowledge and suggestions. Thanks in advance!
