Well its been just over 3yrs since last built decent PC and the old P4 just not cutting edge for games anymore, though still ok for general applications.

Intel C2D E7650 2.66GHz 4MB Cache 1333FSB LGA775 $228.00

XFX 8800GT 512MB DH DVI PCIe $413.60
Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard $152.90
or
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R Motherboard $157.00 (Preferred Choice)
Seagate Barracuda 250Gb 7200RPM 16Mb SATA 2 $85.80
Zalman CNPS9700LED Copper CPU Cooler $81.40 (Optional ?? ) (Preferred Choice)
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound $9.90
Thermatake Tough Power 600W Active PFC 14cm Fan PSU $156.00
or
Corsair HX-620 620W Power Supply COR-HX620 $179.00
Corsair HX-520 520W Power Supply COR-HX520 $165.00
Lite-On-Supper Allwrite SATA Lightscribe DVD-DL Re-Writer Black $57.20

All this come to just under my total budget of $1400.00 (Was supposed to be $1200.00 as on a pension)

Not quite sure which M/B or Ram suggestions here would be most Welcomed
Thanks jolly-Swagman

Everything looks good except that i'd rather get the P35-DS3R than the other.

EDIT:

And try to get an 10xx ram instead, and an thermalright 120 cooler for more oc'ing headroom. Also drop that antec thermal compund if you have access to AS5.

I was leaning towards the Gigabyte P35-DSR or the DSL Motherboard as I have had no problems with any current Gigabyte MB's except for my server but that was a power outage/brownout that took the PSU / CPU /MB out.
The Ram 10xx is about 2 to 3 times the price here of the 800DDR2 so will have to stick with that, OCz and Team Xtreem are around $120.00 are they any better than the Corsair, also have been trying to find the 120 cooler, but no one has any stock here till next Jan 08.
What about the Synthe Ninja are they ok with the setup link below

Coolmaster RC-690 Black Tower Case $104.50

First of all, i'm sure you mean the Coolermaster CM 690. I have that case, it works very nicely. As for air flow it is perfect because basically the whole case is perforated, and it also has 7 120mm fan bays, so good air flow is insured.

I'd also go for the Nvidia branded Zalman 9700 LED CPU HSF. Its mirror chromed pure copper to ensure good conduction and heat transfer through the heat pipes.

My two cents.

Coolmaster CM-690 (RC-690) Black Tower Case $104.50

Yes that's the one, oops typo. the RC-690 is the code for it, and the PSU
Corsair HX-520 520W Power Supply COR-HX520 $165.00 AU will be ok then
Might even have to go with this to
Gigabyte Geforce 8800 GT 512MB. 256-bit (600MHz clock), 512MB GDDR3 memory (900MHz clock, 1800MHz effective). or
EVGA GeForce 8800GT Superclocked. 256-bit (650MHz clock), 512MB GDDR3 memory (950MHz clock, 1900MHz effective). as they seem to be out of stock on them.

Thanks for the Reply nzs1NtaX and UnrealAlex

you could always get ram similar to this one with tighter timings

I love my corsair psu, I am pretty sure you could build a q6600 for $1200 that might be the way to go for future value.

I wish I could too, but I come from the Land Downunder and we dont have prices here as cheap as they seem to be in USA, Unfortunately Q6600 is just under $400AU

Just did a Quick check on our best priced Sites and for $1535.00AU would be the best price without Monitor or Keyboard/Mouse/Speakers,
Unfortunately way over my current budget, which I have already pushed up by $200 from $1200.00AU

I had another Idea to maybe just have a good system that is O/C'able now and upgrade to Quad later date so as to save on budget.
Also maybe even thinking to make this into a project for myself and Custom Build a Wood PC Enclosure.

Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 CPU, 2.0 GHz, FSB 800MHz, 1MB Cache, 65W, Socket LGA775 $119.90
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L M/b - P35, 1333MHz FSB, Dual DDR2-1066, PCI Express x16, SATA II, Gbe LAN, 8ch, ATX $150.70
EVGA 8800GT SuperClocked 512MB $391.60
Thermalright Ultra-120 Heat Sink for Intel S775 & AMD S754/939/940 CPUs (AM2 support with optional AM2 adapter), compatible with all 120mm fans $80.30
Corsair HX-520 520W ATX Power Supply, 120mm fan, Dual PCI-E Graphics Card Connector, 4 SATA Connectors, Universal AC input 90~264V $152.90
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2GB (2x XMS2 1GB) Twin2X PC-6400 DDR2 RAM, 2x240-pin DIMMs, Non ECC Unbuffered, 4-4-4-12 $147.40

Subtotal: $1,042.80AU
*All prices include GST.

Any Extra Advice Much Appreciated than you

i was going to suggest a place-holder processor. wasn't sure you'd go for it though.

the ds3L is fine if you don't want/need raid.
corsair 520hx is more than enough for a single card setup. you could maybe look at the 450vx is money gets tight again.
stick with the corsair ram. the ocz is arguably the same so isn't worth the money.
you might want to do some research (i need to) between the vanilla and SC versions of the 8800GT. are there any physical differences / overclocking room? if the only difference is the stock clock speeds, overclock it yourself.

Will have a closer look into the differences in 8800GT 512MB Graphics cards as I have read its better not to get one thats already been Factory oc'd.

I am thinking of going the way I stated about building Custom Wood PC will more of a Personal touch than the regular Rigs.

Thanks again for your input

Looks like a very solid setup. I would go for the low end CPU and OC the tar outa it and later on upgrade to a quad core. quad core isn't utilized much at all currently, so I think a place holder is a great idea.

well imo dont spend the money on a E2xxx or E4xxx cpu's cause with 45nm dual and quads coming out. i think it would better suit you to go with a Celeron-L 420 or 430. i have a celeron-l in my ip35-pro atm and its doing 3.2ghz @1.33v. there is a cpu fsb wall at 415 which causes a instant lock up or if done from the bios is a no boot. for the price of the celeron-l it cant be beat, though if you are to go long then a E2xxx is a way to go. i wouldnt expend that much money for a cpu that is gonna be replaced in about 2months time. going from a E6400 @3.2ghz to this celeron-l, i can honastly say doing we surfing while running prime95 felt like i was on my dual core. while some games may take a hit from not having the extra core, i havent tested yet so i dunno how big a hit im gonna see. just a fyi running the superpi 1m @3.2ghz it did 21.500secs in 1M, doing runs after that resulted in a 21.750sec 1M.
