I am so frustrated. None of my three Nvidia GPUs will fold. Started a few days ago.
I have the AMD GPUs folding.

What is going on? I see in the log "Failed to read stream" for the cpu and the GPU.

17:23:51:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Failed to read stream
17:24:09:WU01:FS01:0x17:WARNING:Console control signal 1 on PID 7604
17:24:09:WU02:FS02:0x17:WARNING:Console control signal 1 on PID 7780

No help on the folding forum either.

Oh well guess I'm saving money on electricity.

failed to read stream.jpg

I have tried uninstall, reinstall, and disabling firewall and virus protection.

I change nothing and stuff stops working . . . . so frustrating.

You could clear your "Work" folder and restart the fold. This would lose any work that you have not finished but may resolve the issue. I hate to do this type os resolution but I have had it resolve similar issues for me in the past.

Tried updating drivers, deleting work folder, reinstalling. Each at different times. Still not folding. Plus the stuff I stated above.

The only other thing that I can think of, and again this happened to me at one time, is to use something like Drive Cleaner or some other software. The need is to completely remove all graphics drivers *completely*. The install the newest non beta drivers for your card(s).

I tried your suggestion. Now running the driver which came out today 344.65.
Still not folding.
Still getting "Failed to read stream".

I guess the last ditch effort is to completely re-install Windows and format all drives and dump everything.

Delete the cores folder as well. (make a backup just incase) as I see in your pic it's trying to update a core.

I had an issue where F@H wasn't able to download the cores itself... there is a manual way to download them somewhere on the F@H wiki.
Unfortunately, the only way I was able to resolve my issues with F@H was a fresh install of Windows. (F@H wouldn't even run - my OS was so buggered up I guess :-/ )

I tried a clean install of Windows 7. No help. Nvidia GPUs will not fold anymore.

Failed to read stream

About 600K PPD folding power is somehow disabled.

Why do the AMD GPUs fold and the Nvidia GPUs fail?

Can you post up the logs ????

Someone may see something there to get you going in the right direction.

To summarize:

This is what I can't understand.
I have changed nothing on a computer (with two Nvidia GTX 870s) which has been folding since July 2013.
Then one morning it stops folding.
Also a second computer with a Nvidia GPU also stops folding at the same time. While at the same time a third computer with three AMD GPUs continues to fold on the same network.
And, at the same time I started getting this:
connectionreset_zps27db26c2.jpg

I get the above when I try to run the web client or go to any stanford websites except http://127.0.0.1:7396/.

Yep. F@H can't download the cores to fold on.

Here is the solution to the cores issue :)

The F@H wiki page on how to manually install the cores!

Install those into the "cores" folder in %appdata%/FAHClient and you should be golden as long as you can download work units.

EDIT: I would download core 17 for the nvidia's and of course, core a4 for your CPU folding.
You might need other cores - but I don't fold on Nvidia so I'm not sure :-/

The F@H wiki page on how to manually install the cores!

Install those into the "cores" folder in %appdata%/FAHClient and you should be golden as long as you can download work units.

EDIT: I would download core 17 for the nvidia's and of course, core a4 for your CPU folding.
You might need other cores - but I don't fold on Nvidia so I'm not sure :-/

I can't see the web pages:
Core download locations:

http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Win32/x86/
http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Linux/x86/
http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/OSX/x86/
http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/OSX/x86_Tiger/
http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/OSX/PowerPC/

I get:
connectionreset_zps27db26c2.jpg

I can load www.stanford.edu but not with anything after it.

Okay.. This again.... (I had this issue as well for a bit)

Reboot everything to do with your internet. Computers, routers, switches etc.
If possible, flush the DNS cache on your machine (ipconfig /flushdns) and flush the DNS cache on your routers/modems if possible. Also empty your browser's cache & cookies.

If this fails, confirm if another, different computer can access the core download pages (using your internet of course :p ). If they can't too, it might be your ISP doing something funny :-/

This seems like a virus issue to me. In IE, check the status of your proxy. I've seen many virus set the check box to use a proxy with no IP set and its directing traffic locally on your machine through the virus.

+1
Also can't hurt to run Malwarebytes :)

I am stumped.
Flushed caches, DNS, and even did a firmware upgrade on my router. No help. :bang head
Called my ISP to see if any issues with folding.stanford.edu; nope.
While I cannot load any webpage that has to do with folding.stanford except the 127.0.0.1:7396
My three AMD GPUs are folding, and strangely one GTX780 is folding now.

(30 minutes between writing line above and line below . . . got sidetracked.)

Wait both GTX 780s started to fold . . .WTF???
Why were they not folding for days?????? :screwy:

Maybe the GTX970 is not compatible with my ASUS P7P55D EVO (P55 chipset).
Someone suggested that this was the problem with the 970.
I guess a new Z97 motherboard might solve this, I have a 4770K that would go in it. I can reuse everything else in my old computer but the CPU and motherboard (won't have usb 3.0 front jacks).

A coincidence...

The cause was the client not being able to download the necessary core to begin folding.
Your F@H logs support that...

Perhaps once you called your ISP they fixed an issue on their end? I dunno. We all dunno.
Just glad some of the cards are working now.

Personally, I would not drop money into a new rig only to have the same internet related issue and in the end, another dead F@H rig.

EDIT: What does a traceroute to one of the site you can't reach look like? Any dropped packets?
Also if you'd like, I can probably download the cores for you and attached them here to a post for you.

I assume you mean to traceroute to the work server?
No dropped packets there.

Thanks for the offer to send me the cores, but I want to get this "simple".
Turn it on and it just folds. Walk away. Check once a day.
I have spent WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on this. I give up on the ASUS P7P55 EVO motherboard.
I've almost memorized my folding thirty two character passkey, I have entered it so often over the last week.

Good, you can get to a work server. (There are many)

If you can solve this internet issue you have with Stanford's websites, you shouldn't have an issue folding.
Personally, I'd just download the cores somewhere else onto a laptop and install them manually.

It's rare that the cores themselves get updated, so instead of spinning your wheels on why it won't download them, just do it yourself and never worry about it again :)

OK!
Got a new motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT) installed drivers and stuff, new SSD (256GB), fresh install of Windows 7 Prof 64-bit, Windows updates, 4GB RAM, NO anti-virus, NO firewall.
Fresh install of F@H 7.3.6.
Still can not get the GTX 970 or the CPU (i7 4770K) to fold. No overclocking.

The following log is where I have only the GPU configured to fold. I removed the cpu to try to make it simple.

The other two computers on my home network are folding.

Anyone have any idea why this GTX 970 will not fold?

Why do I constantly get the "Failed to read stream"?
