I have just build a 3700+ but my mate wants to move from P4 to AMD64 anyways he saw a Opty 148 with the same speed as my 3700+ and lv2 cache.

He would like me to ask on here are the just as good as the 3700+ for daily desktop use the opty is the same price as i paid for the 3700. But it comes with a stock HS/fan where as I had to purchase 1 seperate as it was OEM.

They are pretty much the same silicon, the Optys, FXs (55/57), and 3700+ were all San Diego core CPUS I believe. Might as well get the Opty if it comes with a heatsink. My Opty 144 did 2.6 with the stock heatsink, no problem.

Get the Opty. Also, the stock cooler isn't that horrible, even when overclocking, if he needs to save money and use it.
