There's my system! Thought I'd share my upgrade with you. :) The pictures are *okay* I will put up higher quality when my brother visits with his digital cam! :D

excellent results man, congrats! My Opty 170 should be done by Sunday.. (still modding case... and my damn HS has not arrived... DOH!) I'll throw mine up for comparison ASAP.

Great job!

ps: yes, plz get a new camera! lol...

Nice specs man. Just curious, was the Windows XP Idling rig stable at 1.45 Vcore? I know it would crash when playing a game, or a memory intensive but were you able to boot up and idle?

Dom

I assumed that you were H2O cooling initially. That's pretty impressive for air cooling. I will have mine setup with H2O.

Excelent results...

The 3DMark05 seems to be a little low. I would thought your 3DMark05 would be abit higher with the 7800GT but maybe not. I've seen many people getting 9000s on that card. Are you able to get into the 9000s?

In response to cloud, I have stability. :) I tried 3x and lost 1% performance in all benches without gaining... anything. The only thing I am disappointed in right now with my 05 score, and I am trying to find out what the problem is. Personally I blame the latest nvidia drivers (I'm using the latest official from their website), and I usually use modified ones but I didn't want to sacrifice any quality. I'm still burning in at 275fsb, but once I feel like I can go further, I will.

If you have any suggestions for hitting higher 3dmark05 scores, let me know. Upping my core and memory gave me about a 200 score increase from 7800 to 8000. The 270 to 275 fsb and 225 to 230 memory got me to around 8100. I'm thinking, if I can tweak the RAM a little further and get close to 7GB/s I can perhaps have my max system performance then I can work on the video card some more. I'm *thinking* it's drivers, I haven't really messed with them yet. The OC on the card is also tentative, I haven't found the max yet.

As for the question about booting into windows at 1.45. I have it set to 1.45 in the bios, but I my reading in windows ranges from 1.48-1.50 on cpu-z. I think the motherboard overvolts a little bit. When I tried 1.4 (overvolt to 1.45), it would crash during the windows boot. I haven't tried since burning in. yes, this is all on air!!

I also noticed on my memory that I could boot at 250fsb pretty easy on the default timings, but it wanted to force me to use 2T and my bandwidth benchmarks were terrible, in the low 5GB/s mark. I found tighter timings and 20 less fsb was a huge performance increase.

your 3dmark scores are right on par, however I wouldnt look to the ram bandwidth so much for improving your #'s. I broke 8000 with my 165 opty at 2.6 and 1 gig of ram at 240 fsb and that card with about the same clocks as you showed in your OC. Overall that performance is right on par with my 165 system and my roomates 170 system (although you do have 2 gigs of ram to our 1). Congrats on the new system!

Alright, thank you! I was thinking that maybe I did something wrong and I went and messed with my ram timings. I still haven't found anything else more stable than what I had though!

The system is prime stable, the RAM itself is iffy. I think I need to drop to 270 at these timings and back to 225memory, it's very stable. I got a crash after 2 hours of gaming because of the RAM and video. Toned video down to 490/1200 and it seems to like me also. Back to 1.41v now @ 270x10 4xhtt, prime stable so far for 2 hours on both cores.
