Hi, just got an opteron 240 (1.4ghz socket 940) for very cheap and Im wondering if its worth going with a 940 set up and overclocking it, or just selling the chip and saving for a full 939 rig. Anyone know what the 940 opterons are lke for clocking?

I say sell the chip and save up for a better system. 940 means registered memory only also, which is a little more expensive for some good stuff.

I had 2 S940 Opteron and the damn board was sooo expensive to get, not even counting the memory. That 1.4 GHz chip won't make it even to 2 GHz so such a waste of time.

Yeah its looking like it would be cheaper to sell the chip and get a 939 rig than to buy a 940 mobo and some registered RAM. Thanks for the tips guys.

P.S. Anyone want to buy an opteron 240? :p
