So just wondering for a really quick response. If I Use my current MOBO (p8z77 V LX) and Add 2 HD 7950s one running at 3.0 x 16 and the other at 2.0x4 how would the performance scale vs Dual 3.0x8 or 3.0x16? If anyone has a bench or two to show differences. Yes i know already, "Why use that MoBo if your going to CFX 2 cards? Blah Blah Blah Get a new MoBo", THAT WILL BE LATER thinking of upgrading to a z77A-GD55 that has 2 3.0x16 for multi monitor setup. ANy help would be great. Thank you in advance. :salute:

I would do the motherboard first, IMO. You might get a 40% gain on the 2.0x4.

Well i saw from another forum that the bench of a 3.0x16 vs 3.0x8 vs 2.0x4

the 2.0x4 = 70FPS
the 3.0x8 = 73.2FPS
and 3.0x16 = 78.5FPS

Roughly if I'm gaming, I'm not a super gamer and can live with 8fps less per card IF I get to keep my mobo. . Currently I'm running a LG 23" 120hz (Only for gaming Monitor) and a 22" Dell 120hz (For Web, Videos, Component Monitor). Eventually ill get 3 x 20" for a setup because the 20s are cheaper and i can get 3 for the price of 1 27" super screen.

I would but it took 3 months, building her a new Rig and throwing in my HD 7850 while I get to use a 6770 to convince her to allow me to upgrade my Cards, rather soon, and if the prices of the 7900 series drops when the 9000 comes out then i can get it sooner rather then later. And then pay the $110.00 or $130.00 for the new MoBo when i save up. Ill link a pic of what i want to get. Let me know if theirs another MoBo that has Dual 3.0 x 16 for under $130.00 thats better then the z77A-GD 55, With H60, i5-2500k @ 4.5 and 2x HD 7950 3gb

MSI Z77A-GD55 LGA 1155 - $115.00 W/ $15.00 MIR

And how can i tell if the MoBo has a PLX or nForce 200 chip? the z77-GD55 or z77-GD65 or z77-GD80? and Is there a real big difference between GD65 Reg and Gaming?

There is nearly no difference between pcie x8 3.0 and pcie x16 3.0. You will be fine with standard Z77 mobo on 2x pcie x8 slots. Boards with plx cost 2x more and are dedicated more to 3-4 gpu setups.
GD80 has 3x pcie x16 but in real they're working as x16/x8/x4 using IB CPU. So if you use 2 gfx cards then board will be working as x8+x8+x4.
The same pcie setup has nearly every Z77 board with 3 pcie x16 slots. If you get mATX board with 3 slots like Maximus V Gene then it will be also limited to 8+8+4.
