Problems uninstalling NIS 2006

I get the following error when I try to uninstall Norton Internet Security 2006:

"uninstallation encountered an error and was unable to remove the application.

9999,172"

If I try to uninstall in Safe Mode it tells me to uninstall in Normal mode.

Any ideas and help is much appreciated. Thanks.

one of the lovely effects of Norton software.... unless they have an uninstaller on their website... you may be SOL... i remember years ago when you had to have the cd in in order to uninstall it...talk about a pain in my @$$

Just give up on trying to remove that horrorshow normally. Download the Norton removal tool.
