Hi All,

I'm running Homeserver 2011 which is based on server 2008R2. I'm having problems with permissions and access denial on a large group of files and folders. when I go to change or delete a file I keep getting messages about needing permission from administrator (I am logged in as admin) or just outright Access Denied.

I've tried taking ownership from within explorer and also using CMD prompt commands Takeown and icalcs. No effect

is there any way to just scrub all permissions from this entire sub-directory?

You mentioned taking ownership. If you are having permission issues, take ownership and reset the permissions on the security tab, applying to all subfolders. That is how you would "reset" permissions on a folder.

Be on the lookout for the "Deny Everyone" crap that Microsoft likes to use on some directories.
