a)
RAM Question.
is it useless to put

dual
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10B

bec my motherboard memory is limited to

ASUS P8H61-M LX Rev 3.0 Specs:

2 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 1333/1066 Hz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
* The maximum 16GB memory capacity can be supported with 8GB or above DIMMs. ASUS will update the memory QVL once the DIMMs are available in the market.
* Refer to www.asus.com or user manual for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
* Due to OS limitation, when installing total memory of 4GB capacity or more, Windows® 32-bit operation system may only recognize less than 3GB. Install a 64-bit Windows® OS when you want to install 4GB or more memory on the motherboard.

Note: I am not a hardcore gamer. Just want a good gaming pc and a work pc.

pls reply

thanks

Going 2x4 is enough for 99% of user but in your case, you're limited to 2 dim so goin 2x4 wont leave you an upgrade path to 16gb with a second 2x4 set. So in the end, i think you could be better with 2x8 right now. Ram price is not too high and 16gb could be usefull in the coming years.

** if you run a 32bit windows, dont buy more than 4gb .... **

The 7870 will run on a good ~500w PSU. Your seasonic if fine ! :)

Thanks for the reply Boulard83

Using windows 7 so its 64 bit

Question
my motherboard only has

2 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 1333/1066 Hz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

is a
dual
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10B

or
dual
Corsair Vengeance (Dual) 2x4gb ddr3 1600 CL9 (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9)

kinda a waste of money because of the speed capabilty of my motherboard is DDR3 1333/1066 Hz

pls enlighten me :D

As i told, get 2x8 GB so you wont have to sell your 2x4 to upgrade to 16gb.

As for the speed, you motherboard could be able to clock the memory to 1600mhz but i dont know all the "OC" option you have on this particular board. But this 1600mhz ram can be clock 1333 or 1066 without issue. Underclocking Ram/CPU/GPU is pretty much alwais possible. * You could buy 1333mhz ram and save some buck ... *

P.S. Windows 7 are not all 64 bit.

So if I buy 1600 ram, there is a possiblity my motherboard could use the full 1600 Mhz or if it Cant, will it just automatically make the 1600 Mhz to 1333/1066 MHz

thanks for the reply :D

Yes. These 1600 stick more than probably have XMP profile at 1033 and/or 1333mhz.

So what does 240-Pin on RAM mean, will it fit my Motherboard ?

thanks for the replies :)
