Hey guys,

I own an Asus K53E, the low end model, Pentium 940B Cpu.

I just got a good deal on an i5 2430M, which i should get within a few days.

That said, now I want to boost it with some more ram. Both CPU's are rated to handle up to 16Gb ram, but I am confused about what Asus claim is possible.

http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/K53E/#specifications

"DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM, 2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 8 GB SDRAM"

Does this mean 8Gb in total, or does this mean 8Gb per slot max?

This chipset should support 16GB but if there is any BIOS issue then it won't run. Probably there won't be any issues but you can ask ASUS support to be sure.

I cant be bothered to fill out a huge form just to ask about that.

I'll just stick to 8gb ram.

I am cosidering getting Kingston HyperX PNP 2x4gb, they are 1600mhz rated ram, which will do me no good, but according to Kingstons spec sheet, i will be able to run them in CL8 if i run them in 1333mhz. I dont know how much i can change in the bios, but i would like to know if the bios is able to figure this on its own in case?
