RAM upgrade question, multiple types

I've just bought 16gb (2x8gb) ddr3 1600 ram to upgrade out the old 4gb ddr3 1333 (2x2gb). I'm realizing I cooould use both pairs. Would this add anything , or would i actually be slowing things down by letting the computer use the slower ram speeds at all. Not that I need 20gb, but mostly curious

Stick with your 16GB. It's more than enough.

leave it out, it wouldn't be worth it, do what I do and hoard old ram until you start giving friends/families pcs free ram upgrades just to get rid of the stuff

haha, i love too much old ram already. But yeah about what I expected. I'm upgrading basically everything right now and keeping my benchmarks as I go for my own OCD, so maaaaybe I'll try it both ways and report.
