Samsung DDR4 in full production

I don't expect any good DDR4 desktop series in next ~18 months.

Agreed. But if I were making decisions at Samsung, I wouldn't dedicate production resources on a product unless I had an outlet.....so you can bet that they have one, just not one we know about. Scour the bowels of the internet, who knows?

I bet that all this production will go to the enterprise market as server chipsets with DDR4 support will be probably released much faster than desktop series.
On the other hand we don't really need DDR4 for desktops right now just because we can't even utilize full DDR3 power. Also expect that 1st DDR4 series will be slower than higher clocked DDR3. With higher clocks always come more relaxed timings.
