Hi all,

As the title suggests, I suck at RAM OC'ing...

And have a question:

I currently run 2x4GB 1600/Cl8/1.5v Corsair Vengeance.

They run@1800/9-9-9-24/1.6v stable.

BUT if I relax some of the timing (eg.: 9-10-9-27), they become unstable...

I thought loosening timings would increase stability, but it seems not always.

Could a memory Guru enlighten me on this one?

Thanks (Woomack ;)).

All depends from used IC. In most cases more relaxed timings are more stable but sometimes when you change main timings then sub timings ( if are set to auto ) are also changing and can be above stable values. That's why it's good to set most timings manually ( if you know what to set ).

Best will be if you check what IC you have there. One tip is number on the label if you don't want to take off heatsinks:
http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68811

If it's running stable @9-9-9 but not @9-10-9 at the same clock and voltage then it's weird as all available IC should have timing table at least to 11-11-11 and most have 14-14-14.

Check IC and I will try to give you some settings to test.

Thanks Woomack.

I knew you could help!

Going to turn off the PC and check the IC type.

So, 2 types of IC on one module:
Corsair 256M8DDHG ELC0401112 U107V8CR9ANG
Corsair 256H8DDHG ELC0401112 U107V8CR9AKL

Raahhh... Label's gone... Alltogether with heatsinks, lol!

I might find a picture though...

It's Corsair so they could use anything.
If you won't find this number then just try something like 1800/1866 10-10-10/10-11-10, 2000/2133 11-11-11/11-12-12. Also higher tRFC like 200-300 and command rate 2.

I had some older PSC 4GB sticks that were working @1800/1866 10-9-9 or 9-9-9 1.50-1.62V but weren't stable above 1.65V and higher tRCD didn't help. Maybe you have similar chips there.

Thanks Woomack.

Will try.

Can't find the labels...
