your flaking out issue could have been MANY things.. for one your PSU needs to be VERY stought for these systems and overclocking them just means you need an even more stout PSU.
And I was serious about hardware modification of the motherboard, I really belive to get a decent OC your going to need to get out a sodering iron and work that mobo over
