At my last apartment I had a Yamaha R-S202 receiver and a pair of Pioneer SP-FS52 towers as a PC stereo.

I got... Complaints.

I've been using the onboard speakers on my Acer monitor for a while and now they aren't playing nice. Instead of fixing them I'll just do the proper audio thing and get some neighbor friendly speakers.

As in I'm looking at a pair of desktop speakers. Either 2.0 PC speakers or, since I already have a functional receiver, a small set of bookshelf speakers. Looking at $100 tops. Just for the occasional YouTube video and such, I'll switch to cans if anything needs the fidelity.

Any suggestions?

Update: adding a challenge to this. Just found a set of Klipsch R-14Ms on Amazon for slightly over budget, $120. If anyone finds comparative speakers, let me know.
