I cannot read S.M.A.R.T. data on my drives anymore due to a cheap addon PCI IDE controller. Sys crashes if I run everest (and go to sensor or smart tabs) or HDD health.

Are there any programs that allow you to select only certain drives to poll for S.M.A.R.T. data... before any polling takes place?

Only the gurus can know ;)

hmm... I ain't guru ! :)

But, I know that my pal had a similiar problem getting Smart info with some weird IDE PCI-X controller too.

He managed to get those SMART info through bootable linux CD (he runs Windows OS) and with these S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring Tools.

Of course he used the Linux version and put it in the burned linux CD.

Good luck, hope it will work for you.
