Ok guys, I have a proposition lol........I would like to upgrade my cpu(upgrade) and i have a budget of about 250$. right now im on a Compaq Presario with 566 Mhz or something like that and its really bogging me down. I want to upgrade this p.o.s so it will last me till college which is like 1 and half years. Right now this is what I have come up with...... Im upgrading the video card, hard drive, power supply, processor. I will prolly use sd ram (what i have right now) which can be used with this motherboard right? Will i need to upgrade nething else really? And if you know, i was just wondering if the Compaq presario case is ATX form. If anyone has some better prices (prefer newegg) or better products in lieu of what i have go right ahead and correct me. Keep in mind this is just a short term fix I dont feel the need to buy a new cpu right now. Also installing this will be pretty simple correct? Im decent with computers, so would this be to difficult? All cables and connectors come with the products too right? . THANKS IN ADVANCE

All the parts seem fine, but that video card is like a retarded monkey with all of its limbs removed. I would think going with something like a Ti 4200 would be better, but I don't know what those cost. Of course it doesnt matter if you don't game.

That's a good ATA hard drive for the price. I have two of those.

Welcome to the forums.

OK, the SE in those cards officially stands for Special Edition. The thing that is special about these is that they are basicly cut down versions of the same line of cards. I think it was that they cut down the amount of pipelines down.

You can get a Saphire 9600 (Normal edition) for $95 at Newegg and it will perform a LOT better, and it will be much better prepared for games in the next years.LINK

Edit: Heres some benchmarks.
