Hello all! I'm building my first pc ever, and I need advice badly. I have just enough money now saved for my budget (2500) And my build is nearly right up to 2500. So I have the parts picked out have spent months researching it, I definitely would like someones opinion on what they think, before i actually buy them. I want to get it right. Keep in mind, I don't want to overclock yet, someday i might though so i gave my self the option, and i picked out a 1080p 60hz monitor which makes my gpu overkill, but thats okay because I want to play all games maxed out 60fps for a while, and eventually will upgrade to 1440p. Also, I should note that I plan on using my SSD for my OS and my steam account, which will hold games such as skyrim and the GTA series. So! Here's my full build, let me know what you think!
CPU- i7-4790k
MOBO- Asus Maximus Hero VII
GPU- MSI GTX 980ti 6GB
RAM- G-skill Ripjaws 16gb (8x8) 1600
SSD- Samsung PRO 512GB
HDD- WD BLACK 1TB
CASE- Phanteks Enthoo Luxe
PSU- EVGA 850w Gold Fully modular ATX
LG Optical drive
windows 10 64 bit
Asus MX279H 27.0" Monitor
Thanks for any tips! Anything I should add or change? Am buying next week so would appreciate any help!

Option A)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bzrJ4D

A skylake build
Includes 3tb hdd, a better gpu, significantly improved ram, and a vastly superior monitor.

Option B)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LfLVK8

around 5% less performance in gaming (if even), and cost drops to 2160$

Given how much youre spending either eay, its pretty much a no brainer to go skylake at this time. You save 130$ going with z97 over z170, but thats somewhat of a drop in the bucket after spending over 2100$

I vote right along with you guys, socket 1150 is dead now so no room to grow.

I am preparing to build a computer that is similar to this build, with one big exception. I recently found out about the new Skylake processor, which is what prompted me to finally build a new computer. The thing that really caught my eye is that the article said the onboard GPU will run 4x4k monitors. Basically, no external GPU necessary. At what point is an external GPU necessary? I haven't played any games in a while, but I was thinking about playing the Star Wars game, or maybe fire up my old WoW account. But, I was hoping to be able to run a 24" 4k monitor at max settings. Will I need an external card to do that?

Thanks.

Edit- I haven't posted here in a while. The rig in my sig is long dead. Died in a horrible house fire. Loved that rig. RIP.

You will without a doubt need a discrete gpu for 4k gaming. That is a lot different than just putting up a desktop on 4 monitors. Both amd and Intel's igpu's came a long way but not close to that far. :)
