voltage problem E6600

I started overclocking my E6600 today on a Asus P5N32-E SLI. Whenever I raise the QDR? (FSB) to anything above 1200, the vcore goes up to 1.42v, however I've set it to 1.30 in BIOS and CPU-Z always shows 1.3 unless I go above 1200mhz. I've linked the memory with the cpu fsb. Could it be the bios? Should I update? I'd rather not :thup:
 
What kind of PSU are you running? If its a cheap generic then that might be the problem...

I'm having trouble understanding what exactly is happening....

You set Vcore to 1.3v and CPU-Z shows 1.3v

You then increase FSB to 1200 (300), then CPU-Z shows Vcore at 1.42v?

and yes, its always a good idea to have the most updated BIOS when starting an OC (unless an older one was better).

EDIT: Are you trying to go straight from 266 (1066) to 300 (1200)FSB?

1220 it shows 1.42


EDIT: Are you trying to go straight from 266 (1066) to 300 (1200)FSB?
Yes, and it doesnt cause problems there. The problems arise when going beyond 1200.
 
OK, to help you further I need a bit (well a lot) more info.

List your rigs parts (model numbers help).

Parts include... CPU; CPU cooler; RAM (brand, speed, and amount); motherboard

List your current BIOS settings, include voltages, freqs, & what you ahve enabled/disabled.
