I have 2 OSes XP pro and windows 2000 advanced server if I had to go with
one of the posted what would be better?

And If I had to buy one what would be recommended...

P.S. I have played a little with linux but not much.

Sorry kinda got wrapped up in all of the new tech :)

No gaming.
going to put a Blu ray player in.
going to use the HDHomeRun™ Networked Digital TV Tuner (ATSC)
for TV tuning.
Going to have it hooked to the net work only IP no gateway or DNS
just want to have my music server tied into it.
I do want it to be a DVR.

Anything else you may need to know?

In that case I would say go with Xp Pro seeing as you already have it. IF you didn't have it I would say go with Vista Home Premium, as it have media center built in to it.

Yeah XP Pro without a doubt. 2000 is getting phased out already, and XP is more media friendly IMO.

Ok thanks I figured I would ask because I used 2000 advanced server on both my FS server and on my TF2 server..

Now one other thing when im installing XP pro do I need to set this up with a password? Or should I setup a admin/pass worded account
then make a non pass worded account for HTPC viewing?

Thats really your choice. My XP rig has no password but all my Vista rigs do.

Ok thanks both my gaming rigs one XP and one vista 64 have passwords and all
4 of my 2000 servers have passwords I think for ease ill not password the HTPC

If it is just an HTPC I don't see much reason for a password, unless you have roommates or something you don't want accessing your movies and stuff.
